A friend’s last(ing) smile

Just days before a dear friend and a superb artist, Jihmye Collins, took his flight to the next world, I had the honor of taking a few pictures of him in his studio at the Spanish Port Village, San Diego. As I was leaving his studio, he smiled, said goodbye and got back to work. I didn’t know it would be the last time we would ever meet again. However, I tend to believe that we will meet again!

Here is an article about this legendary man.

Games for Girls?

I came across this website (www.girlgames.com) and found it to be absolutely pathetic – right enough word? I only have one question for the creators and its visitors: Is it really what girls/women need to play, find entertaining or spend their time on?

Chew on that, but also look at the statistics of its visitors:

Based on internet averages, girlgames.com is visited more frequently by females who are in the age range 35-44, have children, have no college education and browse this site from home. (source)

Still from one of their 'popular' games

Life Instructions

1) Have fun, perhaps be productive while doing it.

2) Do not hurt people, but go a step further and make them happy.

3) Do not accept defeat, rather learn from it and try again.

4) Strive to be happy, and that means finding the source of “true happiness.”

5) Analyze what you just read.

Characterization in “Water for Elephants”

Water for Elephants (2011) is Francis Lawrenc’s third feature film. The purpose of this quick review is not to comment on all aspects of the film, but simply highlight the concept of characterization or character development.

The film suffers from a weak protagonist (Robert Pattinson) who has no heroic characteristics and is simply there to be an opposing voice to the real protagonist of the film, the antagonist (Christoph Waltz). Waltz is strong both as an actor and as a character in the film and ends up overshadowing the guy whom the audience wants to side with.

A weak protagonist leads the audience to identify with other, more stronger characters in the film, only to be betrayed at the end because you were after the wrong guy.

On the other hand, Rosie, the elephant needs an Oscar for best supporting actress.
